About Scandic

Once upon a time the people of the Nordic countries would leave their doors unlocked. Tired travellers could always rely on getting a bite to eat and a roof over their heads. It was a way of showing care and consideration – omtanke. The values on which Scandic is built have their roots in everything Nordic. For everyone who works here it is only natural to look after each other. We have simply refined this idea a little and turned it into a relaxed hotel experience that offers good value. For us, Scandic always encompasses simplicity, value for money, open-mindedness and omtanke – we call that Nordic common sense.

Our business concept is to offer easy and accessible travel for all.

You can also look at our omtanke from a broader perspective. Good business sense – yes. We have to make money. Ethical responsibility – naturally. For example, we do not serve tropical shrimps. Environmental consideration – always. We have over 90 Swan ecolabelled hotels, for instance. These are elements of our shared values, which help us to make smart decisions and feel good, as a business and as people.
